SOCIB actively participated in the last edition of the Science Week during November, 2015. SOCIB presented an activity, in collaboration with IMEDEA (CSIC-UIB) and the Balearic Islands CSIC Institutional Delegation, aimed at school kids consisting in a glider workshop lead by SOCIB engineer Albert Miralles, and a second activity based on the Web Educational Application developed in the framework of project JERICO, "Follow the Glider". This activity lead by Tomeu Canyellas, SOCIB's Outreach Service, presented to the students and teachers (IES Antoni Maura) a guide on this tool and on how to properly use it.

 

The Week of Science and Technology is the most important initiative for scientific publication in many regions . Since 2001 is organized on a national basis with the objectives of bringing science to the public of all ages, stimulate the taste for scientific knowledge and encourage the participation of citizens in scientific issues by conducting outreach activities in museums, universities, research centers, technology parks, etc. Its main feature is that institutions and research centers open their doors for two weeks for the citizens to know the latest developments in science and the main lines of research that scientists are developing.
